Volunteer with GALE!

If you have a spare hour or two and would like to do something worthwhile for your local community then volunteering for GALE could be the answer!

We have a whole range of volunteering opportunities that could really make a difference in our community. If you would like to register your interest, please fill out the form here and either return it to the GALE Centre or send to tania@galeteam.co.uk

Current Volunteering Opportunities!

  • Supported Volunteering - We run a supported volunteering programme providing opportunities and placements for people of all abilities to encourage personal growth, confidence and work experience.

Our programme has extended over the years and as it does so we require more helpers to support this. We're currently short of helpers for this project as there is demand for longer and more frequent placements which sadly we can't fulfill due to a shortage of volunteer support. So if you or someone you know might be interested we would love to hear from you!

  • Gairloch and District Show - The show relies on huge volunteer effort to pull it off each year and we're always looking for new people to join the team and have some fun as well! We've got something for everyone including providing stewarding support to the judges, selling raffle tickets on the door, serving refreshments, helping display exhibits and setting up the hall. Every year this proves to be a huge success and it is thanks to all of the willing volunteers!

Ongoing Volunteering Opportunites!

  • Outdoor Learning Programme - would you like to try your hand at some gardening? We have allotments at Good for Ewe in Inverasdale and raised beds behind The GALE Centre. Our outdoor learning team, Jenni and Fiona, are always looking for a hand to help out, and if you're interested they'll teach you all you need to know to start your own little garden!
  • Fundraising events - we organise a range of fundraising coffee mornings and events throughout the year to help support local charities and good causes.  We need folk to help us organise and run these events.
  • Spend a morning or afternoon at The GALE Centre welcoming visitors to the community and ensuring they have a wonderful stay and want to return soon.  The Centre is also a great place to meet people and have a blether while providing an important local service.
  • Help out at the annual Gairloch & District Show either on show day itself or by joining the working group to help with all the pre-show preparation.
  • Become a board member of GALE and be involved in the management decisions of GALE at the quarterly meetings.
  • Help keep our website up to date by writing articles and news stories, we love to hear what you've been up to! Send any information you think we should know about to Louise - marketing@galeteam.co.uk
  • We always have lots of administrative jobs to be done such as printing leaflets and fliers, writing letters, entering statistics and financial figures on our computer system and much more.

Whatever your skills or however much time you have available we will probably have a job for you!
