Since 1997 GALE has moved from being a fully grant dependant organisation to being completely self-financing.  Since June 2005 GALE has received no public funding for any of its core activities.  This has been a very challenging transition and at times very difficult to maintain but it is an achievement we are very proud of and work hard to continue.

As well as moving from grant dependence to financial sustainability we have increased our staffing levels, increased our range and quantity of projects and benefited a growing number of people.

We still rely on voluntary donations to help finance our work and volunteers to give of their time freely to help us deliver our projects.  However we also make a small charge for most of our services to help cover our costs.  We run a community shop at the Gairloch Tourist Information Centre and all the retail profits from this shop finance our work.

Without local people and visitors supporting our individual projects and shopping at our community shop we would not be able to deliver all our current projects.
